Why CO2?
Synthetic refrigerants are increasingly reaching a dead end due to the requirements of the European F-Gas Regulation and the impending REACH procedure for PFAS restriction. Manufacturers and operators are called upon to increasingly switch to alternative refrigerants with lower GWP or directly to natural refrigerants such as CO2, propane, or ammonia.
Compared to its natural competitors, CO2 scores points because the substance is non-flammable. Technically, CO2 also offers numerous advantages. The high discharge temperatures and transcritical operation enable efficient use of waste heat. Pressure losses affect efficiency significantly less than with other refrigerants. In addition, the upstream pressure before the injection valves remains constant throughout the year due to the special refrigeration circuit design – which ensures stable and precise control of the evaporators.
NH₃ (R717) Systems
[CF] SYSTEMS offers customized water & brine chillers for industrial and commercial refrigeration applications using the natural refrigerant NH3. In designing these systems, which can be realized from 50 kW cooling capacity, [CF] SYSTEMS draws on extensive experience, particularly in implementing low-charge ammonia solutions.

In the field of indirect systems using the natural refrigerant propane (R290), [CF] SYSTEMS works closely with its partner Enerblue, who specializes in this technology , in addition to its own manufactured products.
